Bloody Tuesday at Simpson Harbor
The aftermath of the 345th’s attack on November 2, 1943 is shown in this photo of the northeast shoreline of Simpson Harbor, taken by an aircraft from one of the units that attacked shipping in the harbor. Numerous fires started by the white phosphorous bombs, parafrags and strafing are visible. The photo is tilted due to the evasive maneuvers of the aircraft taking the photo.
